ZOMBIE BOY By Michael T. Martinez The horror on his well lit face As his naked body fades away into the shadows. His skin once soft and filled with grace, Bloodied from cuts obtained from gallows- The gallows of his haunted life, That left him scarred of body and mind And as he is tormented by strife He tries to force through remnants of humankind Which are buried deep within those staring eyes, Though at first glance you wouldn't know, And silently you pray as you realize That for him, not all hope yet away did go. He lives a life none of us would want, And strange urges push him toward you- But a piece of him that wants not to haunt Tries holding back, tries to remember what he would do. Will what's left of his humanity Triumph over his disease? Or will he lurch forward quickly, Eating your brain, whether or not he please?
